The sun seemed to appear from nowhere this morning – almost at the mid-point between the hills that marks the autumn equinox. I was watching the steam rising from the hot-tub, wondering whether that pair of shoes beside it meant there was someone in there…. All of a sudden the eastern hills disappeared in light, the prayer flags on the barn lit up, the red and gold of the foliage – there is so much more colour in the forest this morning! – began to glow. Ah… warmth…!
Yesterday was another one of those magical days here at Heartroot. Théo, Estelle, Cédric and Mohamed filled our hearts and our new, not-quite-finished, performance space with joy and Light, calling a rainbow from the fog and rain. Our breath looked like the steam rising from the hot-tub, but dancing kept us warm. We are at full capacity in every way – full to the rafters with emotion… with Life. I’m glad we covered the garden last night – the grass is crunchy this morning.
For the past couple of days, as I emptied and cleaned and refilled the hot-tub, washed mountains of dishes and laundry and prayed in salt-baths, an Anishnabe chant for the cleansing of the waters has lived in me. Water is the Being that unites all Life – that flows from cloud to river, to mountains and plants, cycling through the bodies of All Our Relations in the Circle. It is the symbol and the fact of our interconnection – of Oneness.
Nibi wabo; Endaanhg; Aki miskwai; Nibi wabo…
Aya,aya, aya aye; Aya, aya, aya, ayo….
Water and Fire; Fire and Water….The two are dancing around the planet – forest fires, guns, fever; floods, drought, tears…
The greatest and most harmful illusion that humanity has entertained is that of powerlessness and isolation; the world has been ruled by wounded little boys who have been taught that they have no power and are hell-bent to prove otherwise. I am alone. I am insignificant. How many of us still suffer from these lies..? Aware that each breath, each thought, each tiny gesture we make with consciousness ripples its way through all of Life, the illusion of impotence dissolves. With the knowledge of watery oneness, we become responsible for the fires of our personal power.
Water and Fire; Fire and Water…. And the Dance swirls on….
…Aya,aya, aya aye; Aya, aya, aya, ayo. Aya,aya, aya aye; Aya, aya, aya, ayo…
